Dear All,

It was a wonderful experience on 24/07 at Kala Mandir. Did not think
the event wud be so Big. Did not think AG88 wud be made to feel so Big (as a matter of
fact so big that we started feeling very small bcos we know we hv just started) . The MC
spoke quite a bit abt our effort etc etc etc (half i cud not u'stand coz the words being
used were quite strong). Honestly, now i feel we shud put more effort bcos there is a
lot we all can do if we all can stick together. Tks to Joydeep we hv been able to start
(got to keep the president happy - isn't it).He cud hv done better had he provided
us with those Snacks being served Backstage. Nobody is perfect as the saying goes.
A word of codolence for Sandeep Dhar coz he lost Rs.2/- on this day.
He cud not get a Receipt for the Rs.2/- he paid to get a photocopy of the Cheque.
He got so Depressed that he was trying to find solace in the songs being sung. We
literally had to drag him out. I appeal to our esteemed C.A Mr.Arindam to show sympathetic
consideration on humanitarian grounds. Our Desi Rambo was doing Social service on one hand and on the other side he was badly smitten by a Beautiful Lady. I thought I heard him sing "Tere Chehre se nazar nahin hathti nazaren hamein kya denge .... " - just joking guys.

On a serious note :-

1) Next step, we need to know from Arindam / Sandeep our Fund status as of now.
2) We need to know how many are getting involved Financially. (one
request - even if someone is not getting financially involved he / she shud
not move out. We need everyone to be together)
3) Then we can call for suggestions for the next project depending upon fund
availability.

P.S : 1) Thank you Kousambi & Prosenjit bcos when u guys started all
this discussion I never never thought it wud happen in reality.
2) Subhasish, Rajesh, Sovan were all missed and hope next time we can hv stronger
representation.

As of 15th July 2009:

* 24th July, The Date of launch.
* Initially as proposed, Rs 11k towards buying of tickets. To

start, this seems to be ok.
* As discussed with Snadeep Dhar,Kolkata team to meet on coming

Sat, 18th July (time to be decided, may be 02-04 pm). We at Mumbai,

can also be available . Arindam and Prosenjit can be also taken in the

con call. How about, if we connect through Reliance web world? Is

there any possibility to connect the overseas guy. Utpal, Avik,

Nilu.......
* Can we make an agenda in advance, so that we discuss on those

and then someone can forward the minutes of the meeting with FPR and

deadline.

Indicative agenda:

1. Formation of the executive body along with the signatories, etc.
2. Bank account and its operation.
3. Execution details of 24th July. The tickets obtained: should we

distribute among our relatives and friends, or else we give them to an

old age home. ( Its always easier to write in a mail then to execute.

Just a thought).
4. Preferences, priorities and direction of projects. (eg: old age,

orphanage, and natural calamities)
5. Donations; project wise , monthly... etc . (for disciplinary

purpose,would like to emphasis on minimum yearly fixed.Individual

capacity and intention may always vary.

Refer to all the the text in the past, an exciting fresh beginning is
in the offing ( see forwarded from Utpal and Joydeep):
Joydeep Mukeherjee (9331215228) has volunteered and expressed the
followings:
* We should form something on our own. He has clarified from his
CA that our banner can get registered and thus we will have our own
identity.(AG 88...) * Initially, the scale or quantum of project may not be important.
Even if we do one or two in a year, we should do our own banner. * He has come forward to render all the admimistrative support,
and even offered to use his office address for administrative,meeting,
etc purposes. * On July 24th, under his club's banner he is organizing a
musical event at kalamandir. The proceeds will be given to a cancer
hospital. * He has offered the platform as our launch pad, and our banners
can be displayed.
Along with Joydeep; Arindam has volunteered to maintain
books/accounts.
I think this is really commendable and also suits our bill. Thereby
we should not miss the opportunity. Furthermore, probably the momentum
has been at its peak. So lets strike on 24th.
Recommended, requested action plan and FPR:
* If possible to meet at the earliest- All those at Kolkata (

The question that comes to my mind is the following; suppose we do all the legwork, set up the organization, get the tax exemption and do all that. Let us also suppose that we also accumulate the money in the fund. What are we going to do with the money? Money for money’s sake is useless. Unless we actually use the money to do some socially beneficial project the whole enterprise/effort is a failure. So here is my 2 cents for a plan of action.

1. Identify a small project that we can do immediately.
2. Set up some measurable success criteria. Something/anything by which we can say that we have been successful.
3. Identify what amount of level of effort required to get to that success (money and time involvement). Once we have identified we can all chip in the money and determine who will be the main executor of the project.
4. Get that money and get the project rolling immediately. Forget the formal organization and tax and all those stuff and all that thing.

If the above project is successful then we have demonstrated the capability of this group to do and execute the social project. At that time, owing to the success of this project there will be more enthusiasm too about this. Then we can make the legal organization and start the formal fund collection etc and proceed for the long term. If we fail then well we have demonstrated our inability to do it and maybe think up some other idea or learn from our failure and try again.

This approach avoids the pitfall of putting the cart (setting up the organization/administration etc) before the horse (doing the actual social work). The other great risk that is mitigated is that this initial momentum we have gathered does not wane while all the administrative set up is being done. ……. Utpal

I am not discourging any body , i the reason i said is i have something else in my mind.
which will be both socially benificial and for our personal benifits .

All of you must be knowing the lot of organisation and group of people has a funda called benevolent fund .

As you know for the last few days we have gathered a lot of momentum and we are all close to each other ,courtsy emails

Now please go through the below


How many times we had said to our self , Oh ! i need some money , for my this work , but i will not go to the bank because they charge excess interest .


Now if we make a benevolent fund by contributing say RS 1000 /500 / 700eper month in an account specially named " AG -88 BENEVOLENT FUND" and the same amount will be invested in a risk free return instrument ( BROJO , can help us by naming good blue chip funds where the money will be safe ) . all our money will grow , and if anybody who requires money in future can get 200 % of his total contribution as a loan from that fund .


Friends , we are now all in the range of 38 yrs , and will will leave at least till 75 years
so what we are doing by this we are some way secuing our remaing 37 years . we all know that we must have saved for our future in form of Life insurance , pension plans and so on , but such benevolent funds can be of great help when ever there is a need of funds . and keeping in mind of the social responsibility we can definitely do social work with the money , we can do annual get to gethers with the money . …. That's another great idea must say. The gujju community works on similar lines, specially the NRI lots. Can definately look into the same........ what do you all say?

But, Arindam, doing social work with the same money?????????? I really don't think so and get together is definately not contributing to a Social Cause.

Lets do more of brain stroming and am sure we would come up with more ideas.

hence, two initiatives have come out.
a) AG Church Social responsibility.
b) The benevolent fund (Vici/visi).- probably this can get started immediately but Brojo?tara has to take care of all. Fund managers- Deb Brojo Dulal and Arindam Tara associates..
We can start this of immediately. Deb?tara, do let us know what should be the amount and where to deposit. ami prothemai book korlam, je cheler jokhon paite debo, to khon ami amount ta chai.
We should keep a minimum interest. What should be the amount Rs 5k/3k. What should be the entry formality, in case some one wnats to join late..

Personally I hv never taken interest on Social activities that is being discussed. But
I wud be happy if it actually takes concrete shape. IF everyone wud hv been doing it
alrdy then they wud not hv been discussing it. Everything has to hv a starting. So if
we cannot encourage atleast lets not discourage coz u never know all this may lead to
something good for a Social cause.

By the way the number of people who give donations and don't disclose in Books are far
too many compared to the ones who show it. So Forget Form 16.

If you all really meet, then pls discuss about my plan....

• NGO.. under the banner AG Church Tolly'88 or as referred by Prosenjit.
• Currently as we are all spread out, so starting of our own , probably will be difficult. Because time might be a factor for all.
• So we may register the above at KOLKATA and then tag in with an existing/ongoing one.
• We collect a subscription (mutually agreed, or can be open also with minimum fixed;) regularly under the above banner (post registration) and support projects undertaken by the one that we will tag in.
• probably the above will be tax free also.
• Any individual while at KOL, wishes to involve himself for any projects, will also have the opportunity to do so.
• While choosing a tag in partner, I think we should look out for one who is not very big at the moment. This will help us to have transparency.
